Looking for a fun piece with some creativity? "Uncle Lumpy's Garage" is a quirky musical piece that incorporates some non-standard yet readily available percussion instruments to create a unique sound. To recreate the sound of a man tinkering in his garage, the percussion uses standard percussion instruments as well as a large rubber garbage container, some high and low pitched metal objects, and some sandpaper blocks. This piece is a blast to play and helps show the listener that music can be found anywhere if we just learn to listen for it. An audio CD with a recording of this piece is included. The CD also includes recordings of this and other music pieces from the Standard of Excellence Series. Technical Notes: This song is arranged to correlate with the Kjos method book "Standard Of Excellence", book 2, page 13. The percussion 1 part calls for timpani and coffee can, the percussion 2 part calls for xylophone, bells, temple blocks, triangle and cowbell, the percussion 3 part calls for crash cymbals, suspended cymbal, high and low pitched metal objects and sandpaper blocks, and the percussion 4 part calls for snare drum, large rubber garbage container, tam tam and tambourine.
